About Camp

2-4-1 Puts Play Back into Sports!

At 2-4-1, children have the opportunity to sample multiple sports and learn for themselves how playing one sport increases their ability and confidence in another. While many specialty camps are filled with laps, lines and lectures – at 2-4-1 Sports we focus on getting kids moving and playing all day. All attendees play at least 3 sports each day and we encourage all campers to try at least one sport they’ve never tried before. “Life’s 2 Short 4 Just 1 Sport” is more than a tagline for us — it’s a cultural shift that drives our programs to help families recognize that a lifelong love of activity starts with a diverse, play-filled childhood.

At 2-4-1 Gaston Day, we are excited to once again expose your children to the state-of-the-art facility at beautiful Gaston Day School with a gorgeous air-conditioned indoor field house and multiple playing fields. All campers will get to sample multiple sports and enjoy lunch in the campus’ beautiful dining hall. The following sport choices are available.

Soccer, Baseball/Softball, Basketball, Flag Football, Racket Sports (Pickleball, Badminton, Table Tennis, etc), Volleyball, and Universal Sports (see description below).

Universal Sports: Campers love that they never know what they’ll get each day. Each year it can vary and sometimes even involves community partnerships. Maybe it’s the Israeli dodgeball game known as GaGa. Maybe it’s Team Handball or Ultimate Frisbee. Whatever it is, you can rest assured, it’s incredibly fun and the skills learned crossover to our traditional sport offerings.

When campers arrive on Day 1 – they will receive a name tag showing the order of their sports based on their choices.

Campers will have the option of bringing their own lunch or purchasing lunch from the GDS dining services.

Those campers going into Grades K and 2 (Division 1 and 2) will follow their own format. See description for Junior 2-4-1 below.

Junior 2-4-1

Camp is broken into 3 age group divisions (note that “Rising” for each of the following is what grade your child will be in Fall of 2023)

Division 1- Rising Kindergartners

Division 2 – Rising 1st and 2nd grade

Division 3 – Rising 3rd through 9th grade (please know that this will be our last season with rising grade 9).

While the times and dates of Division 1 and Divison 2 are the same as our traditional camp, the programming itself is age-appropriately different. In keeping in line with the “2-4-1 Crossover Effect” – we see it as so important that these youngest athletes crossover to our traditional program having had the most positive of experiences. With that in mind – our staff focuses on infusing skill instruction into serious fun! We want their first introduction to multiple-sports to be one where they leave asking for more! Junior campers (Divison 1 and 2) don’t choose sports – we bring the sports to them!  (Campers in these Divisions do not need to bring any of their own equipment)
Division 1 and 2 campers have their own distinct directors and counselors.  The programs are run separetly from each other so please know we are not able to honor any sibling or friend requests outside of each other’s division.  We also can not make any exceptions regarding these grade requirements for divisions.
Please know that Division 1 campers must have participated in a full day school or camp experience (at least 6 hours) prior to attending 2-4-1 Sports.  We have a very active curriculum and it’s our experience that those who have not had a full day school or camp experience get overwhelmed quickly.  We need  for parents to document during the application process where your child has had a prior full day experience.  Campers of this age must of course be potty trained.

Before/After Care

Before and After Care is available for those families that may need to drop their camper(s) off early or pick them up late in order for them to be able to attend camp.

All campers will be supervised by a member of the 2-4-1 Staff and have the opportunity for continued play.  Pick up and drop off locations are in the Hoffman Field House each day.

Before care: 7:30-9:00 ($60 for the week)

After care: 3:00-4:30 ($60 for the week)

Can add either/both during the registration process.

If choosing to do single days (not committing to the full week), then each segment is $15.00 and can be purchased/funded through your campers canteen account.

Lunch/Canteen

Gaston Day has a beautfiul dining hall adjacent to many of the fields we play on.  It is where we host lunch and our canteen (camp store).  Campers have the option to bring lunch  or to purchase lunch.  You can purchase lunch for the week during registration or you can purchase as many individucal days as you choose once camp begins.

Campers also love attending our canteen – items include an assortment of drinks, snacks and treats.  You have the option to prefund your canteeen account at registration or fund/replenish throughout the week at camp.

We suggest talking to your child about limits at the canteen as we use a debit/credit system.
