Whether you’re brand new to fencing or looking to build on what you’ve learned in a past program, 2-4-1 Fencing in the Park is designed for all skill levels with built-in differentiation to ensure everyone gets the right challenge.

Using our unique play-based approach, kids will develop footwork, coordination, and strategy while learning the fundamentals of fencing. This program is an opportunity for beginners to get started in a safe and welcoming environment, while returning participants can refine their skills and advance toward more free fencing and friendly competition-style play.

With the breathtaking backdrop of the Connecticut State Capitol, this FREE program (thanks to ESPN funding!) makes fencing more accessible and affordable than ever.

The Program

At 2-4-1 Fencing, we believe every child should have the opportunity to experience the thrill of this elegant and strategic sport without the barriers of high costs or complicated equipment.
- Beginners will be introduced to the fundamentals of fencing through foam “noodles” and optional safety goggles, making it an engaging and safe way to learn the basics. The target area is the torso, helping kids develop technique while keeping the game continuous and fun.
- Returning participants or those ready for more advanced play will progress toward more complex movements, real-time strategy, and free fencing opportunities.
- All participants will enjoy a play-based learning environment where fun, skill-building, and friendly competition come together.
